I've been working in Norway for 3 years on a work permit. Can I apply for permanent residence?

You may be eligible. Here's what the law says:

  • 3 years is sufficient for permanent residence if you've had continuous legal stay (Immigration Act § 62)
  • Income requirement: You must have had sufficient income during the period (Immigration Regulations § 11-1)
  • Norwegian language courses and social studies tests must be completed (§ 62, first paragraph, letter d)
